Faith or Works of the Law
3 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?[a] 4 Have you experienced[b] so much in vain—if it really was in vain? 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
Today I read a men’s devotional from Christianity Today titled Foolish Efforts by Mike Ashcraft in My One Word. Very good reminder that we are saved through Jesus not our efforts or actions.
A quote from the above article:
“God doesn’t help those who help themselves. God helps those who walk with him in faith. Our efforts were never the impetus for God’s transforming grace. They won’t be the impetus for our changed hearts either.
We don’t need willpower or self-effort. We need faith that God will accomplish in us and for us what we can’t do ourselves. He is the source of what we long for and need.”
My prayer today is turn everything over to God, may my faith grow today.
