Wisdom Bestows Well-Being – Proverbs 3:1-6

Yesterday, I read an article “Lasting Relationships Rely on 2 Traits”.  I’ve provided the link if you want to read the article, but the trait that was most relevant to me was “kindness.”  The article suggested.. if we think of “kindness” as a muscle – as something we need to use and strengthen constantly …it will grow just like muscle does.  The article was a good reminder to me I need to practice(exercise) kindness.

The proverb below from my morning devotional reminded me of this article. Proverbs 3:3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck..”

May “kindness” grow in me.  I’ve been learning that with my faith in Jesus not myself, I’m getting much better in the kindness department.  Still have plenty of kindness muscles to strengthen.

Wisdom Bestows Well-Being

My son, do not forget my teaching,
    but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
    and bring you peace and prosperity.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
    in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.[a]

About GettingCloserToOurGod

This blog is written by Todd Christenson. He was raised in Nebraska and currently lives on Long Island in New York. Though out my childhood, my family attended church. We prayed together at meals. I thought I was prepared for life. After college, I moved to New York City. Shy, unsure of myself, building an identity in worldly things, increasingly prideful, self-righteousness, a controlling nature. In 2013, God spoke through someone, suggesting I confess my sins. I did. I realized that every day, I’d been glorifying myself, not God. Today, God’s teaching me to have my identity in Him, only, my dependency in Him, not myself, being who He wants me to be, not the world, loving Him first, loving others as myself.
