Biblegateway.com‘s bible verse of the day today was 1 Peter 1:13. I read this verse and it really spoke to me. So often, my hope is in things and myself – not Jesus and the Grace he gives freely.
After reading this verse from 1 Peter, I read the last chapter of James. James 5:9 talks about not grumbling against one another or be judged. I was about to grumble about someone but I had not acted – as I think about the issue at handle – there are ways I can resolve without grumbling.
I am thankful for these verses – helping me keep focused on trusting God and looking to him for guidance, not myself. Today is off to a good start.
Patience in Suffering
7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. 9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
Be Holy
13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a]
