Supporting someone who is loney

Today, my heart is heavy as I just spent time with someone who is very lonely.

The article I quoted below from Josh Wiley and the bible verses were an encouragement to me about loneliness but sadly not yet to my friend.

My prayer today is for this friend, that he is blessed with Christian friends that would encourage and love him, that he would open his heart to Jesus and take refuge in him.

Scriptures and Quotes on Loneliness by Josh Wiley

Loneliness is something that many people struggle with. The Bible is comforting for those that are lonely as it assures us we are not alone. God is our creator and is with us. The Bible is also clear that God does not want us to be without other people, He created us to live with others in this world. The Bible encourages us to find friendships with other believers. As you read through these Bible Verses, ask God to work them into your life. Pray to him with a faithful heart and he will hear you! Feel free to use this article as a devotional, Topical Bible study, or a Sunday School lesson. If you have any other good Bible verses about being alone, add them to the comments so this may be a better resource for those that find it.

Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

About GettingCloserToOurGod

This blog is written by Todd Christenson. He was raised in Nebraska and currently lives on Long Island in New York. Though out my childhood, my family attended church. We prayed together at meals. I thought I was prepared for life. After college, I moved to New York City. Shy, unsure of myself, building an identity in worldly things, increasingly prideful, self-righteousness, a controlling nature. In 2013, God spoke through someone, suggesting I confess my sins. I did. I realized that every day, I’d been glorifying myself, not God. Today, God’s teaching me to have my identity in Him, only, my dependency in Him, not myself, being who He wants me to be, not the world, loving Him first, loving others as myself.
